I had the chance to spend a few years wandering around the Austin Texas video store I Luv Video. During that time, I took many photographs and videos of the internals of the store, specifically their stock of VHS and DVD from Something Weird Video.. I’d never seen such a concentration of strange and wonderful videos in one place.
Many more SWV tapes were scattered throughout the shop, but what you see featured on this page is the “main collection,” which in the years up to the store’s closing had been housed in this little alcove in the corner of the store. The shelf at the end actually blocked what was originally the entrance to the “room behind the beads” X-rated video section, which still existed when I first visited the store around 2012 but was blocked up a few years later.
