One of the most curious artifacts associated with Alejandro Jodorowsky’s El Topo (a film included within the new mammoth blu-ray box sets from Arrow Video and ABKCO) is a book published in the early seventies which is comprised of both screenplay excerpts along with a strange interview with Jodorowsky where he attempts to explain the ideas and principles behind the film.. The out-of-print book, previously available on the Subterranean Cinema website, is now also available on archive.org to peruse and enjoy all the madness of A.J. for yourself.
…It’s endless. El Topo is endless. It never ends. One day we’ll all film a movie that will last a hundred years. I feel it. There will only be time out to eat, to shit, to make love, and to work. – Alejandro Jodorowsky
