Vintage Newspaper Ad: UA Grand Opening in Pensacola FL (2-15-1979)

The day after Valentines 1979 saw the grand opening of the United Artists theater at University Mall in Pensacola FL, which opened with bargain matinees and a nice sampler of the type of films coasting around theaters of the era – In Praise of Older Women, The Warriors, Friedkin’s The Brinks Job, Watership Down, Love Bug, and An Unmarried Woman.

The UA theaters eventually expanded to dual theaters on either end of University Mall before closing and then relaunching as a dollar theater under new ownership. Eventually the theaters were demolished in 2013 as the mall went through a major redevelopment.
